Shelley Stubbs

Shelley is the driving force behind the practice, always looking for ways to push eye care and eyewear to the next level. She loves helping patients exceed their visual expectations and supporting the team to realise their full potential.

With experience in diabetic retinopathy screening and contact lens fitting, Shelley brings a strong clinical background to her patient care. She also has a flair for helping patients pick out the perfect frame, especially during showcase and open days, where her keen eye for style and attention to detail shine.

She’s also Treasurer and Secretary of Staffordshire Local Optical Commitee, advocating for optometry’s vital role in eye health and empowering people to take better care of their vision. Known for her warmth, humour, and down-to-earth approach, Shelley makes sure the practice is a welcoming place for patients and a great place to work.

Outside of work, she enjoys catching up with friends and spending time with her two daughters, whether it’s a relaxed day together or walks in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside.

Richard Webb

Richard has been an owner of Webb, Lucas & Stubbs Optometrists since 2017 and has worked at the practice since 2010. Alongside his work in practice, he spends one day a week managing glaucoma patients in the ophthalmology clinic at Royal Stoke or County Hospital.

As an Independent Prescriber, Richard uses his advanced clinical skills to help manage dry eye, allergies, glaucoma, and urgent eye problems, including infections and injuries.

Prior to his role at UHNM, he was Clinical Lead Optometrist at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary, gaining extensive experience across macular degeneration, corneal and keratoconus management, low vision, specialist contact lens fitting, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.

Richard now leads the Staffordshire Glaucoma Managed Clinical Network (MCN), which brings together regional consultant ophthalmologists and community optometrists to collaborate, share learning, and improve standards in glaucoma care.

Outside of work, Richard’s two children share his love of water sports and the great outdoors. Weekends are often spent in wetsuits or exploring the Lake District fells, with the newest addition to the family—an Irish Doodle named Ruadh—joining the adventures.

If the sun’s not shining, Richard may be found at Villa Park, where he once even stood in as Hercules the Lion!

Michelle Mason

Michelle qualified as an Optometrist in 2008, having worked her way up through every role in optical practice, from Optical Assistant to Lab Technician, to Dispensing Optician before achieving her optometry qualification. With over 20 years of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on expertise to the practice.

She is our specialist in myopia management, helping to slow the progression of short-sightedness in children using the latest evidence-based treatments. Michelle is also highly skilled in contact lens fitting and specialist eye care, ensuring her patients receive tailored, high-quality solutions.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys hiking, skiing, baking (her cakes are legendary!), and watching F1 with her boys.

Emily Rawlings

Emily is a Specialist Optometrist and Independent Prescriber, bringing a wealth of expertise to the practice. She also works as Clinical Lead at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary, where she specialises in complex contact lens fitting, keratoconus, macular degeneration, low vision, and dry eye management.

Though small in stature, she is big in personality, with vast experience across a wide range of eye conditions and advanced treatments.

Outside of work, Emily has a young family to keep her on her toes, and when she’s not running around after the little ones, she enjoys running outdoors—having even completed the London Marathon!

Rachel Braddock

Rachel is an experienced Optometrist with a friendly, down-to-earth approach and a great sense of humour. She loves making patients feel at ease while delivering high-quality, expert eye care.

With extensive experience in diabetic retinopathy screening, Rachel has a deep understanding of detecting and managing diabetic eye conditions. Alongside this, her fantastic all-round knowledge ensures patients receive the best possible eye care tailored to their needs.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, going on holidays, and catching up with friends.
