Drive safer this Autumn with Hoya Enroute lenses

Drive safer this Autumn with Hoya Enroute lenses

Driving is challenging at the best of times, but when the low autumn sun or modern headlights at night are causing glare, it can make things even more difficult. There’s a solution that can improve matters quite significantly though, and that’s a pair of anti-glare driving glasses.

The dangers of glare

Clear vision is a must for road safety, but nature and other cars can compromise this at times, by causing glare. Whether it’s the sun reflecting off a wet road or oncoming car headlights at night, the effect is the same – harsh glare that can cause you to squint, reduce visibility, experience eye strain, and therefore compromise your vision and safety.

As you get older, you’ll probably find that glare bothers you more. This is because as your eyes age, the time it takes to recover from glare increases dramatically, from just 1 second at age 15 to 9 seconds at age 65. And when you’re driving, a lot can happen in 9 seconds.

Hoya Enroute lenses

So, what do anti-glare glasses do for your vision? As the name suggests, they are designed to significantly reduce glare caused by reflections, for a more comfortable drive.

We’re thrilled to work with our partners at lens specialists Hoya to offer glasses that go one step further than this. The filter in Hoya’s EnRoute lens is not only designed to eliminate glare for clarity of vision, but the advanced technology in these anti-glare driving glasses also offers improved distance vision.

Combining the properties of a high-definition treatment and an anti-reflective coating, the glare filter in EnRoute lenses noticeably reduces glare by cutting high-energy visible light from LED and Xenon headlights of oncoming traffic, streetlights and on-board equipment. It also significantly minimises distracting reflections while improving contrast and brightness perception in low-light conditions.

Enroute comes in a varifocal lens too, which uses specific technology called Integrated Double Surface Technology, giving you a wider visual field and faster changing between distances, so you can stay in focus whether you’re looking at the road ahead, or at the dashboard.
Another feature which makes this a stand-out lens is called Balanced View Control, which works to give you stable image perception, something that’s particularly important when driving.

Having glasses lenses specific to driving can make the world of difference to your vision. With darker evenings drawing in fast, these lenses can really improve your vision, ensure you don’t experience eye fatigue and help you reach your destination safely, whether you’re driving in low light, or at night.
